Khalid is a world traveller and adventurer, he love to explore and experience new cultures plus revisit some of his favorite international and local spots. But I think what Khalid love the most about the traveling experience is the cultural exchange he gets everything he lands in a new state, city, and country. He lives the motto “When in Rome”

Three months ago Antwan and LV Artreach collaborated to bring the arts to inner city kids. And on the 27th of January (last friday) the final product was shown to a crowd of cheerful, welcoming and anxious audience of family, friends and honored guest.

The piece was called “Stomp” it gave a some elements of body percussion and found percussion. Its was a welcomed challenge in working with the kids and making a piece that we all were satisfied with. I think the kids were proud of the piece, the audience was impressed. I was a proud teacher and mentor.

This is one of my favorite times kickin it with my peoples. And when it come to stepping these are the basics… With a little speed and flair. I would be happy to teach something like this to you in my next workshop. Coming up in January 29th. I hope you see you there.

Me, Khalid and Jason have been stepping together for about 13 years now. I think we’re getting better as time goes on. We trust and support one another. And one of the things we always talk about is the basics. We share the love for stepping and body percussion and it shows when ever we get together. Meet Jep Meléndez of CAMBUYÓN

Jep Meléndez of CAMBUYÓN is an awesome performer. And when I say “awesome” I mean a performer I would pay to see. He and Cambuyon are like Molodi and I am anxiously waiting patiently for the opportunity to work with the group. I had the chance to meet a few members when Molodi did The Body Music Festival last November. After meetin 3 of the 7 members Nestor, Raul, and Jep, I was impressed, amazed and inspired.

Cambuyón is a dance theatre performance group mixing tap dance, body percussion, hip-hop, voice, percussion and theatre to tell a story about rhythm fusion. Founded by Jep Meléndez, with the support of the company Enlace S.C. (Spain) and many collaborators, they use as a starting point rhythmic dance from a variety of folk dances. The artists are well-known performers and teachers of these particular dances and other percussive styles, demonstrating both the recovery of these dances and their subsequent crossing with more contemporary artistic and percussive styles, with particular emphasis on the voice and body music.

The First Stepping workshop went off without a hitch and It was fun, and I am inspired and working towards the next workshop which will be this month. I have a few goals for the upcoming workshop.

1. Fill the class- I want to give a discount to any one who brings three or more people to the class. Also extend a special class rate to Las Vegas’s entertainment industry.

2.Play something funky- I prided my self on every class being different, but there are familiar elements that are the same from class to class for people who came back. But my goal is the class challenges me and every one participating to set a goal as group and achieve as a group.

I believe Mr’ CJ3 (Chris Rutledge) is a showman and anything he is granted the opportunity he does not disappoint. This is another example of his ever growing body of work. Chris teaches, performs and entertains. Note: Performing and entertaining in principle are different.
